In my last blog I asked you to take a project that you were interested in and discover, by involving people, what was important to them in the success of that project.
What did you discover? Did you find that not everybody had the same view as to what was important to them, and what they valued?
I would suggest that the biggest opportunity to improve your communication, particularly in your family, in your workplace, and with management, is by
“Listening”
So many thousands of people who have been through our seminars, workshops and coaching sessions have said “ my boss does not listen to me”. How many times have I given the advice to executives to place your tongue between your teeth, and hold the tongue firmly with the teeth until the other person has totally finished speaking?
I would like you to practice listening, not only to your family members, your wives, your husband, your partners, your children, and your workmates. Let them finish speaking what they have to say.
I leave you with this thought.
“ I wonder why we were born with two ears, and only one mouth, perhaps we should do twice as much listening as we do talking”
What do you think?
