I always say, "the most extinct species on the planet is dedicated and committed leaders."
I love this world and the opportunities it affords us. But with all the amazing things that we human beings are creating with technologies, what is happening with the people? It seems that political correctness, in its many and varied forms, envelops the world.
In many instances many of our politicians globally are obsessed by greed, power and self-interest. It appears to me that they have forgotten (except at election time) that they are there to serve and make people’s lives better. Nobody seems to want to look at the big picture of possibilities (except possibly China and India) and work for the good of their people. Which nations even have a vision, except for China?
Incidentally, I am a capitalist. The global financial crisis would have been a wonderful opportunity to restructure the global financial system. Did we do that? I don’t know any financial institutions or people who were prosecuted and sent to jail! It seems that it is business as usual, plus great financial incentives.
Many of the people, who created the financial collapse, are now in positions of fixing it. That’s great and wise leadership, isn’t it???
I think global leaders need to take a look at what’s happening around the world and see the increase of civil disobedience. The people are fed up with it. Yes, we can say this would not happen in our country, but can we be sure of that?
During the downturn in the global economy, what an opportunity business leaders had to restructure and transform! Workers could have been energized and leveraged to give them job and personal satisfaction. To transform how people think and behave takes know-how and a lot of work by management.
I saw a survey that showed 70% of nationwide employees wanted to change their jobs, and money was NOT the issue. People are an organization’s greatest asset, if used correctly to leverage the human potential. But it seems easier for management to cut costs and lay people off (and I know that this does need to happen periodically), rather than expand their energy into having a Vision and Aspiration to transform the organization’s environment, which allows people to be the best that they can be and work with pride and dignity.
