Whenever I go to Tokyo, I always have lunch or dinner with a 90-year-old wonderful and wise lady. She tells me that she treasures every moment of her life, which makes it magical. I personally make it a point to stop and smell the roses, otherwise life whizzes by - and for what?!
I asked her, "what is the secret of long life?" She said that for her, it was to totally worry about a problem for one day and then forget about it. Time will resolve it if you cannot. She said that she sees too many people who don’t sleep and who are highly stressed due to worry.
I have personally heard many times over my ever-increasing years that "Life is meant for living", and yet I see so many people just existing without purpose, having no reason for being, and chasing the next technological development in our ever-changing and increasingly consumer-minded world.
My wise 90-year-old lady friend gave up work last year - she ran a high-end night club with live artists for 46 years. We walk along the streets of Tokyo, unashamedly holding hands in a country that does not encourage acts of affection on the street. I can feel her love for me flow through her hands into me, and I trust that she has the same experience. In fact, I am sure that she has the same experience.
My wife of a 34 year relationship walks behind, smiling as she watches our love for each other. How blessed I am to love two women from the same family - mother and daughter, wow!
