Setting Goals - Could You Be Doing More?

Written by Brian Martin

In my last blog, I talked about the importance of goals. The reasons why people don't set goals is that they are simply not committed to creating results. They are big talkers, with very little action, and “vision without action just passes the time”!

These people usually talk about wanting to be successful to improve their lot in life, but they are not willing to pay the price. If you really want something you've got to think about it all the time, day in, day out, with little time for other thoughts.

Where focus goes energy flows”

You have to to have the fire of desire burning inside you. If you really want something then you have to demonstrate it, you have to take action, you have to have clear intention.

Another reason people don't set goals, is that they are not in charge of their lives, not taking full responsibility for who they are, and what they want to be, and what they want their lives to be like. They are just waiting for the real life to begin.

Another reason people don't set goals is because they don't feel they are worthy enough, they don't feel good enough. They suffer self-doubt, and don't have confidence in their ability.

The truth, however, is quite different to that, and as I mentioned in an earlier blog “you can do anything you want to do, if you really want to do it badly enough”. Over the last two blogs I have talked about success and the importance of having goals; I want to continue with the reasons why people don't set goals.

A further reason is that they don't realize the importance of goals. If you grew up in a family in which your parents didn't have goals, and your hopes and aspirations were not discussed, you could grow up with out even realizing these things existed. I've heard so many times “go with the flow and life seems to work out anyhow!"

In other words you are in the drift, going nowhere and following the followers. If this is your behavior than the question to you is “are you really being the best that you can be?“

Although I have never met you, I know that “You have not reached the tip of the iceberg of your true potential“. Please think about that question. Could you be doing more? Are you in a job that fullfills you? Or are you just doing what you do, because “Everybody has a job , I needed to pay the rent “.

Do you really love what you do?
